The 2 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari is a short adventure that is designed for visitors who have a short period of time or visitors on a tight schedule. The safari will take you to Kibale national park which is also known as the primate capital because it harbors about 13 primate species including chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, l’hoest monkeys, grey checked mangabey, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys among others. During the safari you will engage in Bigodi swamp walk and chimpanzee trekking activity where you will be able to spend one hour with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Day 1 of the 2 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari

Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park, depending on your location on the first day of the 2 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey toKibale national parkin western part of Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours drive and on the way you will have great views of the beautiful landscape, scenery, roadside markets, local people farmlands with en-route lunch in fort portal. After lunch you will continue the journey with spectacular views of tea plantations, Rwenzori Mountain, views of crater lakes among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge and then prepare yourself for an evening nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary.

During Bigodi swamp walk which take about 2 to 3 hours you will be accompanied by a local guide who will help you to view primate species such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, olive baboons, some animals like bush pigs, Sitatunga, bushbucks , otters if you are lucky, spot different bird species such as the great blue turaco, papyrus Gonolek, white winged warbler, view different plant and tree species, colorful butterflies, listen to sweet sounds of birds singing in trees among others. After the Bigodi swamp walk, you will trek to the starting point where you will meet up with your guide to drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and departure to Kampala

After an early breakfast on the last day of the 2 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari you will check out of the lodge and your driver guide will pick you up to transfer to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for the briefing about the rules, regulations, safety and expectations of chimpanzee trekking. After the chimpanzee trekking briefing you will be grouped into 6 people where each group will be allocated a chimpanzee group and a park guide who is well conversant with forest trails. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park starts at around 8:00am and takes 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species such as black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, different bird species, some animals among others and once the chimpanzee family is located you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat. During the one hour with the chimpanzees you will get an opportunity to  learn more about their habits, lifestyles, behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, play , fight, rest , take incredible  photos and record the moments to show people back home. After the one hour encounter with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to Kanyachu park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and start the journey to Kampala. You will have en-route lunch and great views of tea plantations, beautiful scenery, landscape, traditional homesteads among other on the way. Upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop of at any place of convenience.
