Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of the 4 days Bwindi gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari
Arrival and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, depending on your location on the first day of the 4 days Bwindi gorillas and golden monkey safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park in south western part of Uganda. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator to take photos, buy souvenirs and another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will proceed the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park with great views of Kigezi hills, local people, terraced farmlands among others, upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 4 days Bwindi gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari, you will carry packed lunch and your driver guide will pick you up to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing and the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek, a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the jungle and then start trekking which takes about 30 minutes to 8 hours. During trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species including primates like l’ hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, different bird species among others and once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them carrying out their daily activities like breastfeeding, feeding, resting, playing, grooming young ones, take photos, record videos, learn about their behaviors among others. After the face to face encounter with the gentle giants you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park for golden monkey trekking
After an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days Bwindi gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters in Mgahinga gorilla national park for a briefing about the rules, guidelines and expectations of golden monkey trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a golden monkey family to trek, a park guide who will lead you and then start trekking in the jungle. During the trekking of the golden monkeys you will be able to spot different bird species, plants, other primates among others and once they are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural environment which helps you to watch them jump up in trees, play, feed on bamboo shoots and leaves, learn more about their habits and behaviors, take photos and record the incredible moments.
After the one hour with the golden monkeys, you will drive to the lodge for lunch and thereafter go for an optional Batwa trail experience where you will be able to interact with the Batwa/pygmies, visit the forest where they used to live before the park was gazetted into a national park, learn how to hunt with a bow, see different plants which were used to cure various diseases like diabetes, visit Garama cave which was used as a food sore and also the kings palace, listen to ancient stories, be entertained through traditional music, dance and drama from Batwa men and women among others. After the Batwa trail experience you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Departure to Kampala
After breakfast on the last day of the 4 days Bwindi gorilla trekking and golden monkey safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala with en-route lunch in Mbarara town. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
