Day 1 of the 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking safari from Kigali

Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, upon arrival at Kigali international airport of the first day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking safari from Kigali, you will be picked by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park in south western part of Uganda. It’s a short journey that takes about 3 to 4 hours drive and on the way you will have stunning views of the rolling hills in Rwanda, beautiful landscapes, traditional homesteads, terraced farmlands, Kigezi hills among others. You will pass via Cyanika border in Kisoro or Katuna border in Kabale with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking safari from Kigali, you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people, allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the jungle. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest national park is strenuous which means that allocation of gorilla families is done depending on your personal interest, age and physical fitness therefore in case you are not physically fit you are advised to communicate with your driver guide so that they allocate you a gorilla family that is near to trek.

Trekking of the mountain gorillas in the park starts at around 8:00am and takes 30 minutes to 7 hours or even longer depending on where the mountain gorillas are located. During trekking you will pass through the thick forests where you will be able to view other primate species like the L’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, forest bird, animals like forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers among others. Once the gorilla family is found you will be allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas in their natural habitat which helps you to learn more about their lifestyle, habits, behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, play, take photos and record the moments. After the one hour encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Departure to Kigali

After a relaxed breakfast you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kigali. You will pass via Cyanika border in Kisoro district and cross over to Kigali which takes about 3 to 4 hours drive with incredible views on the way and upon arrival in Kigali you will go for a city tour where you will visit Kigali Genocide memorial centre where you will be able to know more about the 1994 Rwanda genocide between the Hutus and Tutsi, visit the museums where you will watch video testimonies from survivors, Kikorongo market where you will be able to interact with the vendors, buy some craft items among others. After the city tour you will have lunch in one of the hotels in Kigali and then transfer to Kigali international airport where your driver guide will drop you off for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
